Our Healthy Children activities, events, incursions and excursions create a rich and holistic early learning experience for your child.
Chinese Language Program
Cooking with children provides practical experience with many essential skills such as reading, following directions and measuring. Getting involved in cooking helps your child to develop fine motor skills, hand/eye coordination and even early concepts of math and science.
Our centre chef Franck, is conduction Junior MasterChef classes with the children once a week. The children experience the benefits of language development, fine motor skill enhancement, improvement of math and reading ability, introduction to scientific concepts, focus, attention and promotion of healthy eating.
The children will engage in various little athletics races such as, egg & spoon race, wheel barrow race, running race, potato sack race, obstacle course, various mini games developing Fundamental Movement Skills.
This is a great way for children to develop their upper and lower body strength, team work, problem solving skills, boosting self-esteem, promoting refular exercises and having serious fun!
The children at Henley participate in a weekly Yoga class led by our educator. Our Yoga class provides support in developing the right balance of muscle tone and strength through the body, builds core strength for good posture, helps maintain flexibility, strengthens the immune system and keeps the heart and respiratory system fit and strong.
The children look forward to their Yoga class as this gives them the opportunity to focus on developing a positive image of their body and calms the nervous system after a long day of play.
Our Families are very important to us and throughout the year we enjoy inviting mums, dads, grandparents and extended families to various activities at Henley.
These events include, Mother's Day Breakfast, Father's Day Breakfast, Grandparents Morning Tea, Christmas Concerts, Family Socials, learning about each family's culture and inviting families to share their skills and interest with the children.
We are a close community and enjoy inviting all families to the Henley environment to be as involved as possible.
Here at Henley we love getting to know our wider community. We always invite our local firefighters and police officers to visit us at Henley and educate the children about safe people in the area and how to always be safe.
We have regular visits from our local nursing home at Ashburn Place. We will often walk over to visit them and then invite them to visit the children at Henley.
Our school leaver group go on walking excursions to the local Gladesville Public School to help with school readiness and getting to know the new environment. The local school teachers are always in contact with us to ensure we stay connected. We love to visit the local parks, cafes, bushland and beaches in our area.
Here at Henley we teach children on how to be sustainable from an early age. This is done through gardening, planting seeds and watching them grow and using them in our foods, educating the children about recycling and why we have different coloured bins and assisting the educators in emptying bins, caring for our worm farm and not using the dryer and having the children assist in hanging the washing out on the line.
Throughout these activities we use conversation as the most important tool as we discuss with the children why and what we are doing.
The children are responsible for watering the gardens, pulling out the weeds, ensuring our lights and taps are not left on and ensuring we recycle and reuse what we can.
